Galaxy Tab Mixed Reviews

Galaxy Tab, released to the market some time ago, got quite mixed reviews. It seems that presenting a bunch of functionalities which the iPad lacks is not enough to lure satiated consumers these days.

Samsung is honored to be the second

While the iPad is the first tablet to come to the market and it actually has created that market segment, Samsung is honored to be the second in line and is intended to give the iPad a run for its money. So, no wonder, both analysts and general consumers are paying close attention to the gadget. Released several days ago both in the US and Korea, the device enjoys quite opposite reviews and descriptions. Everything from “train wreck” and “mess” to “the real iPad competitor”. The evaluation was supported by Steve Jobs’ remarks who described the gadget as “dead on arrival”. Whether he was right or not, it is absolutely clear that the gadget which provokes such mixed feelings is worth at least reviewing and more thorough studying.

The biggest trouble with Galaxy Tab was a dubious choice of its form factor. While some appreciate it for outstanding convenience which provides an ability to hold it with just one hand, others claim is as absolutely inappropriate for a tablet device. The latter group states that the very aim of a tablet is to provide more place for colorful apps, which will eventually deliver even more entertainment to regular users. In fact, most critics tend to forget that any device can be used for a variety of needs. Some people would prefer to choose a bigger screen of a home PC or a plasma TV to watch the latest show on the Net. While Galaxy Tab fits neatly into the inner pocket of a jacket and can be used for work and just brief notes during the day.

Concerning another strong

disadvantage which many consumers and market watchers enlist – lack of available apps – it is quite understandable that the device has fewer applications than its Apple competitor. But it is quite clear why.

The iPad has been

at the market for more than half a year and no wonder lots of third-party developers have pulled their strengths to create multiple apps to satisfy different needs and requirements. It would be more fair to compare the app base, let’s say, in half a year, as well as consumers’ reviews

In addition, most users

were disappointed that the price for the gadget is not significantly lower than that for the iPad. Many people just kept waiting to see a cheaper tablet coming to the market. But Samsung’s management is likely to estimate all its time and work resources spent in that way. What’s more, as the iPad sales have shown it is roughly the sum people are ready to spend for a consumer tablet
